What makes us different
than every other hockey school out there? At Rocky Hockey, all ice sessions will be personally instructed by Rocky
Thompson, a 14 year pro player and now pro coach in the American Hockey League for the Edmonton Oilers AHL affiliate team
the Oklahoma City Barons (www.okcbarons.com) . We believe that education is the key to sucess in every aspect of our school. We hire professionals
that specialize in the particular aspects of hockey , to ensure that the athletes are not just going through the motions,
but are actually becoming aware of the importance and relevance of each task. A good understanding is the key to success
and execution in many aspects of sport .
Our school has been formulated by gathering knowledge from various aspects applicable
to hockey. Rocky has a reputation of being one of the hardest working hockey players around. He has learned from personal
experience what it takes to climb the hockey ladder. He knows which drills and techniques have worked to improve his playing
ability, and wants to share them with the future generation of hockey.
With a European flavor, our school emphasizes
puck handling and stick skill abilities. From the very first moment the players are on the ice, they have a puck on their
stick and will remain with the puck for the entire week. It is important to be able to skate with or with out the puck, and
our school will help players improve their ability to do so.
The in depth knowledge in the physiology, training
and conditioning methods as well as psychological skills training programs applicable specific to hockey players make our
school a step above the rest. Used by Rocky himself (modified for young groups of course!!), the program has been proven effective
and is a great way to get a player ready for the upcoming hockey season or try outs & testing.
In combination,
the book knowledge and on ice experience can combine for an extraordinary hockey school experience sure to appeal to any level
of player. Our youngest group will participate in the very basics, while the elite group (ages 14 and up) will work on building
a training program specific to their own strengths and capabilities.
